You did it and you were fast!
Thank you to all who donated thus far. We hit our $5,000 goal and our private donor just matched it. We are just slightly over the $10,000 mark.
And we have even more generous donors stepping up to help! We have a new challenge: if we receive 25 new donors of any donation amount, they will give us a $2,500 contribution. That's 25 donors of ANY AMOUNT! Go team, GO!
We are so close to hitting our first milestone of $5,000 and once we do - we have a private donor who will match it!
Will headed off to Washington yesterday and we'd love to mark our goal before he hits the road! Won't you help us?
Will made it to Seattle today and will have a few days before he officially starts his ride on Friday, May 17. His wife, Laura, saw him off at the airport and will meet him in Washington in just a few short days.
The donation thermometer keeps movin' on up - thanks to all who have given. We are SO close to $3,000. Let's get there by the end of the day. Just $75 away!
But even better - once we reach $5,000 - we have a donor that is going to match it. That's right - we'll go from $5,000 to $10,000 - just like that! We are just a little under $2,000 away from that match. Won't you help us?
Will, Pinky and his Wolfpack are featured in local media!
Will is fulfilling a lifelong dream to cycle across the United States.
Noting a Walter Payton quote, “Tomorrow is promised to no one.” “ Why not now? If I'm going to bike across the country, I'll try raising money for a cause I feel passionate about. It resonated right away,” Will said in his interview with Rock Island Dispatch/Argus reporter Jonathan Turner.
And that cause was the Creative Arts Academy. Will's wife, Laura, said what stands out about the Academy is the "energy and discipline of the students, and leadership of the school.
"It is quite remarkable. The kids come into school with such energym enthusiasm. It's incredible. With the arts, if you're looking at a program, some kids learn with different techniques, different motivation. It sparks their imagination."
We are off to a GREAT start! Thank you to everyone who has given so far!
The Creative Arts Academy and CAA4CAA team officially launched the fundraising campaign! Thanks to the work of nearly 40 students, staff and supporters - we have great content we can't wait to share with you!
Yesterday I was put into the hot seat to share details about my journey including what inspired me to cycle across the country, why the CAA is the important cause I chose to support, and my journey as a photographer!
My classroom for the day! Thank you to Amlings Cycle for the great instruction.
Instructors Josh and Kevin (to my left) and the Principal Joe on my right. I passed thanks to the “curve”!
